The start of the new millennium set the deadline for completing the extensive refurbishment of the public areas of the hotel.
With the hotel in operation 24 hours a day, careful phasing and management of the works was essential to shield the guests from the noise and disruption which attends a major renovation.

By the start of the new millennium the hotel was presenting an entirely new façade at street level, whilst guests were benefiting from a new reception, functions suite, cocktail bar and health club, with a new staff restaurant and a roof top office extension for the hotel management team.
